"technique" resident advisor review:
motorcitysoul, the german duo of matthias vogt and c-rock, face a fairly demanding challenge on technique: How do you maintain quality control after a superlative single? Like the best of motorcitysoul's productions, "change you," which was released in september, is consummate - everything locks precisely into place, but not at the expense of the song's emotional contours. It does everything right, which is great over a ten-minute stretch, but hard to pull off over the course of an album. and, besides, too much rightness isn't necessarily a good thing anyway (click picture for full review).

Frankfurt duo Motorcitysoul provide a mix of tech and deep house for this week's (RA podcast):
Fresh from releasing their Technique album on Will Saul's Simple imprint, the Frankfurt duo of Matthias Vogt and Christian Rindermann, AKA C-Rock, have had a busy year so far. Their own brand of melodic house music has been in high demand during the current deep house resurgence, with releases signed to Freerange and Tsuba on top of their aforementioned full-length. To say that they are bandwagon jumpers would be far from the truth; they've been plugging at this deep, driving sound for a while now, even managing to score a collaboration with US house legend Chez Damier back in 2005.
The pair first recorded together around five years ago for local label INFRACom, with Matthias taking writing responsibilities, and C-Rock acting as the technical brains behind the production. Since then, they've decided to share the songwriting duties equally, forging a lush soulful sound that retains its dynamism. The same could be said about their RA podcast, which takes some of their own original productions (both as a duo and solo) and mixes them up with a fine selection of deep house both old and new. We caught up with them by e-mail to ask about the mix, and how things are going with their club night and label.

Motorcitysoul show off their technique (Resident Advisor)
Frankfurt's deep house duo Motorcitysoul will release their sophomore album on Simple in October.
The time seems ripe for the music of Matthias Vogt and C-Rock, what with the European continent currently in the throes of a deep house revival. That's exactly what's on offer throughout Technique—an album that promises at various moments to "want to love you more," "change you...slowly," and "deliver me." Lest you be discouraged by the seriousness, though, there's also a song about space cats. No matter the subject matter, the duo is usually led by synthesizers that sound like they've been doused in what the press notes call "soulful melancholy." Motorcitysoul sees their baby, "Technique", out into the world on October 13th, 2008 on Simple Records - make sure you check the single and the album on the official simple website.

in stores november 19th: Dirt Crew "Manouvres" (Motorcitysoul Remix)
labelinfo:Following last months release of the new Dirt Crew album „Raw“ we present you a great remix package with some fine interpretations of original Dirt Crew album Tracks by some of today’s hottest remixers. First up are the wonderful deep Motorcitysoul boys out of Frankfurt city known for their great records on the London based „Aus/Simple“ imprint, their own „Stir“ label and for numerous remixes on labels like Cocoon, Freerange and Dessous. They deliver a true underground deep house gem that is winding it’s way up to a great breakdown and keeps the hot and sweaty feel of the original alive. On the B-side it’s getting even wilder with a massive remix Bomb by two Dutchmen we all should know by now,Patrice Bäumel (Trapez) and Nuno Dos Santos (Compost Black) team up for one of their infamous Threesixty remixes and turn the track „Get Raw“ into a Tech-house destroyer. And last but not least as a special tribute to our Berlin hometown we invited our good friend Tom Clark (Highgrade Records) to do his thing on the deep „How does it feel“ track. He turned it into a dubby „Basic Channel“ like minimal house groover which will go down well at all after hours and late night sets.

Motorcitysoul in de:bug Magazine 11/2007
de-bug magazine and freelance-writer alexis waltz just published a really nice motorcitysoul-feature. here's a little excerpt (in german) check the link above to get to full page version:
